GradeVelocity is committed to your privacy and your right to control your personal data. This policy explains how you can delete your account, what data is removed, and what data is retained for legal compliance.

We comply with GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure) and similar privacy regulations. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account through self-service or by contacting support:

Self-Service Deletion

  1. Go to your Account Settings
  2. Optionally download your data export (recommended)
  3. Click "Delete Account" in the Danger Zone section
  4. Enter your password to confirm
  5. Click "Permanently Delete Account"

Request Deletion via Support

If you cannot access your account or prefer assistance, email [email protected] with:

  • Your account email address
  • Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
  • We will verify your identity and process the request within 30 days

Prerequisites for Deletion

Before you can delete your account:

  • Cancel active subscriptions: If you have an active paid subscription, you must cancel it first via the Billing Portal. Free accounts can be deleted immediately.
  • Export your data (optional but recommended): Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. Download your data export from Account Settings before proceeding.

What Gets Deleted

The following data is permanently and immediately deleted:

What Gets Retained (Anonymized)

For legal, tax, and audit compliance, certain financial records are retained but anonymized:

Transaction History Credit usage, amounts (linked to anonymous ID) 7 years

Anonymization process: Your email is replaced with a random identifier (e.g., [email protected]), and all other personal information is permanently removed. Financial records cannot be traced back to you.

Why we retain financial records: Tax authorities and auditors may require us to produce financial records for up to 7 years. These anonymized records contain no personally identifiable information and cannot be linked back to you.

Data Export

Before deleting your account, you can export all your data as a JSON file. The export includes:

  • Your account information (email, name, creation date)
  • Subscription history and current status
  • Credit balance and purchase history
  • Transaction log (credit usage)
  • LMS account names (not tokens, for security)
  • Grading session summaries
  • Custom prompts, rubrics, and voice samples

To export your data, visit Account Settings and click "Download My Data".

What About Stripe?

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. When you delete your GradeVelocity account:

  • Your Stripe customer record remains with Stripe (we do not control their data)
  • To delete your data from Stripe, contact them directly at stripe.com/privacy
  • Any active subscriptions should be cancelled before account deletion

What About AI Providers?

When you use GradeVelocity, student submissions are sent to AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) for grading:

  • We use API configurations that do not train on your data
  • AI providers typically do not retain API request data beyond short-term processing
  • We do not store copies of AI provider responses after they are delivered to you
  • Deleting your account removes all grading data from GradeVelocity servers
